How to Share Your Investment Portfolio Online — Read-Only Link (2026)

Whether you want your financial advisor to review your positions, let a spouse keep an eye on things, or share your public portfolio with a community — PortfolioTrackr's portfolio sharing feature lets you do it without giving anyone access to your account.

Why share a portfolio?

There are several common situations where you want someone to see your portfolio without being able to change anything:

How to generate a share link

  1. Switch to the portfolio you want to share using the portfolio switcher
  2. Click the settings icon (⚙️) in the dashboard header
  3. Find the Share Portfolio section and click "Generate Share Link"
  4. Copy the generated URL — it looks like portfoliotrackr.com/shared/abc123xyz...
  5. Send the link to whoever you want to give access to

That's it. The person receiving the link can open it in any browser with no account required.

What the recipient sees

The shared view shows the recipient a live, read-only version of your portfolio:

They cannot see your account settings, other portfolios, notification preferences, payment details, or any personal information beyond the portfolio data you've chosen to share. They also cannot make any changes to any position.

Revoking access

If you want to stop sharing, go back to the Share Portfolio section in settings and click "Revoke Link". The old URL immediately returns a "this portfolio is no longer shared" message. Anyone who bookmarked the old link loses access instantly. You can generate a new link at any time to start fresh with new recipients.

Is it private?

Share links use a cryptographically generated token — a long random string that cannot be guessed by brute force. PortfolioTrackr does not index or publish these links. They don't appear in search engines. Only someone you personally share the link with can access it. That said, you should treat the link like a password — don't post it somewhere public unless you intend the portfolio to be publicly visible.

Portfolio sharing vs creating a second account

Some users create a second account for a spouse or advisor to log in to. Portfolio sharing is much better for most cases: the recipient gets a live view without needing to manage login credentials, there's no cost for the additional viewer, and you retain full control with the ability to revoke access at any time. Sharing a login to your actual account gives full write access — that's a risk you don't need to take.

Share Your Portfolio in Seconds

Portfolio sharing is included in the Pro plan ($19/month) and Lifetime plan ($299 once). Try free for 3 days — no credit card required.

Frequently asked questions

Does the viewer need a PortfolioTrackr account?

No. Anyone with the link can view the shared portfolio in any browser, with no account, no sign-up, and no app install required.

Can I revoke a portfolio share link?

Yes. Revoke the link from settings at any time. The old URL immediately stops working.

Can I share multiple portfolios?

Yes. Each portfolio has its own independent share link. You can share some portfolios and keep others private.
